About Jean Paul Gaultier
Jean Paul Gaultier was born in France in 1952. After training as Pierre Cardin's assistant he launched his first collection in 1979. Gaultier rose to fame for producing some of the iconic Madonna costumes she used during the nineties. He has also designed the wardrobe for films such as "The Fifth Element".
The first Gaultier fragrance, the women's floral-oriental, Classique, was introduced in 1993. This was followed by Le Male for men in 1995. Both were very successful, with Le Male holding the position of number one men's fragrance in the EU based on sales. Jean Paul Gaultier's launched a new men's frangrance, Fleur du Male, in April 2007.
